Shako was born and raised in Isobe City. The town has not changed much at all since she was a young child, now 19 years old. She loves her hometown, however, and her dedication inspires the townspeople to press on when things get tough in their hard-to-live-in home. The difficulties have only made Shako and the others that much stronger, though. They learned to be greatful for all of the little things in life.
When Shako was 13 years old, she wandered away from Isobe City, not intending to go far, but ending up going all the way into the heart of Ongoku no Betsuri. Her experience in that place is unknown to all except Shako, but she has revealed that she was saved by a Charizard, Typhlosion, and Arcanine. After they brought her back to Isobe City, she was visited by Slyfera who stayed with her for a considerable amount of time. During that time, Shako became the Isobe City Gym Leader and she had held that position for 5 years.
