I know this isn't much to talk about but I'd really like to hear about who is with it and who is against it. I myself, think that the death penelty is wrong. The fact that we have to kill a human being to prove that killing someone shouldn't be done is just beyond me. I am sorry if you think this is not a subject to talk about on a pokemon website, but I am simply justifying my mind. Think of it as a experiment, just to see how many people really think the Death Penilty is just or unjust. Is the Death Penalty effective? Is it moral?

I also disagree with the death penalty. Is it worth killing so many innocent people just to get one guilty one? I personally say no. At the most they should get life, that way they have a chance of getting out. If you are dead when new evidence comes up, well, they can't really bring you back you back to life now, can they?

Let's see it this way. You just saw this person kill your entire family in cold blood, and for lack of evidence they get prison for 15 or so years, or even just 8 years. He's alive and probably happy, being fed, getting baths, while you live alone with no one to be with at all. Food is scarce, baths are rare... I'd personally want that person dead. You know that the person will be released soon, and when he is he'll continue to murder and more or less slaughter people, or if he's real old, live in a retirement home, being taken care of, while you suffer in the alleys living off rats.
Now, you tell me during that time that you think the death penalty is unjust. If the person had killed, and we know he has, death would be fine. In the case that he had stole something or something lesser, the death penalty would be a tad excessive. So basically I'm on the fence, despite the long paragraph above.

A-hem. If someone is suspected of murder he is gonna get more than 15 years. More likely he would get life.

Eh- not always... But anyways.. Life in prison. What’s that to look forward to? All the time you would be scorned by people.. People who hate you and think you should be put to death.. If the person’s young (say around 20), do you think he’ll want to stay alive in jail for that? From what I’ve heard, jail itself is not really a nice place. Spending your whole life there.. *Shrug* In some cases it might be a mercy to give them a death sentence. But it’s hard to say anything about it, unless you’re actually IN a jury deciding what your sentence will be.. You never know exactly what you’ll think until you’re actually there.. If you decide to put them to death, well.. If I was on a jury and decided on the death sentence as the best course, I know that I’d probably wonder my entire life if I did the right thing.. But if there was overwhelming evidence against the person, I don’t think I would feel a bit remorseful. I’d say I’m half and half. I don’t like the thought of putting people to death, but do they really deserve living?

Well, of course everyone has they're own thoughts about it. I paticularly like Shinjirioko's long, convincing paragraph. And I totally agree with that, I just don't think that killing someone to show that we shouldn't kill is humane. Thanks for the thoughts though. Also, consider this. Your brother/sister called you saying he/she was in jail for homicide. Would you automatically say: DEATH PENALTY! If you agreed with it?

Human feelings will like make you say 'No... no... NOOOOO!!!', but if you're inhuman, well... 'Die foo, die!!!' Depends really. If you're a relative and even if you believe in the death penalty, you'd most likely want them to be alive, despite homicide. If you're not a relative and you believe in the death penalty, you'd probably be wondering 'Who the heck is calling me?!' People's opinions change depending on who is being sentenced, which is probably the only reason why some people think its just and some think its unjust. Tell me if I'm repeating myself.

Okay. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong and I apologize is you thought that or maybe if I did on accident. Some of my friends are with it, and some are not. Not everyone has the same opinion, thank you for sharing yours. ^-^
