Anna heard about legends of the Kodai Ruins from some travelers who visited Flare Town, and she knew they could be found far off of the path of Route 1; she just didn't know exactly where. She kept squeezing her way in between the clumps of trees, her new Hoothoot still in her arms. For a while she thought she was lost, until she passed between two trees and found herself in a small clearing. In the center stood a small rock shrine.
"We made it!" She cheered, happy to have made it out of the woods.
After walking farther away from the trees, Anna noticed a path that led through the forest to the main road.
"You mean we could've avoided all that? Better late then never, I guess." She said with a laugh.

"Well, I guess we better set up camp. I'll go get some firewood." Anna said, as she and Hoothoot wandered back into the woods.
A while later they returned, Hoothoot now perched on Anna's shoulder so she could carry a pile of wood in her arms. She dumped it down onto the ground, a few feet away from the shrine. She fetched a few stones to line the wood pile, and then she reached into her backpack and pulled out a small pack, filled with safety supplies. She opened it up, fetched a match, lit it, and then set the fire ablaze.
Anna opened up her backpack and pulled out a compact sleeping bag. She untied it, and let it unfold all by itself until it was full size. Looking up, Anna stared at the shrine for a long time, until finally she said, "Hey, Hiroshi, what do you say we explore the Ruins a little before we pack it in for the night?"

"Sounds good to me." Hiroshi said as he finished unrolling his sleeping bag.

"Alright! This is going to be fun!" Anna cheered as Hiroshi agreed with her plan. Hoothoot had started to fall asleep, so Anna let his sleep in a Pokeball, and then she and Hiroshi walked over to face the shrine.
"I wonder how you open the door.." Anna said as she eyed it curiously. She couldn't see very well in the dark, so she jogged over to her backpack, fetching a flashlight. Switching it on, she shined the light over the rough textured door again, this time coming across a handprint.
"Perhaps that's what we need." She suggested, placing her hand on top of it.
A few moments of silence passed, and nothing happened. Anna took her hand off of the door, and sadly concluded, "Guess not..."
However, she spoke too soon. All of a sudden, a loud noise was heard, simliar to that of an earthquake. Anna spun her head around, unaware of what was happening. She then realized it must be the ruins, so she shot her eyes back to the door, just in time to see it quickly sink away into the ground, revealing a pitch black, stone staircase leading deep underground...
Unable to speak for several seconds, Anna then broke the silence with one word. "....Cool!"
